Tools Introduction

How to view, create, and edit tools?

You can create tools so that when they are necessary to execute a procedure, you can add them to your issue. You need to first create a master tool, and then you can add to that tool several items of that tool.

For example, you can have a tool called Power Drill and inside that master tool (or tool category), you can have several Drills with different serial numbers (called items). This way, inside a master tool you can have 10, 20, or more items of that tool.

This feature can be found in release note version: 0.70.0.

1. Accessing Tools

To access the tools page navigate to the left menu and select the "Inventory" tab. Then click on "Tools".

You will then be redirected to the tools page where you can find your tools table with all your tools.

1.1. View Tools

On the tool page, to view more details about a specific tool, you just need to click the tool icon in one of the tools available at the tools table.

After clicking on the icon, you are redirected to the specific tool page. Here, you can see all more information about that specific tool and see the location of your items. In this case, you can see that the category tool "Drill" has 40 units available in warehouse B.

If you click on an item in the items table on the right side of your page, you are able can also see specific information about each item inside the category tool. Information such as tool status, serial number, description, and more.

1.2. Edit Tools

If you want to edit the master tool information, you just need to click on the three dots icon and then choose "Edit".

A new window will appear where you can edit all the tool information such as name, code, description dimension, labels, and tool photo. When you have finished editing, click on the "Add" button.

You can also delete your tool by clicking on the three dots icon and then pressing "Delete"

It will appear a new window asking if you are sure you want to delete that location. If you are, click on "Delete".

Note: This action can't be undone.

1.3. Create a Master Tool

If you already have master tools created, to create a new one just click on the "Add Tool" button at the top right of the tools page.

If you haven't created any storage yet, a button to create a new one will appear on the center of your page. Click on it.

A new window will appear where you can insert your master tool details such as name, tool code, description, dimensions, and labels.

You can even insert an image of your tool by clicking on the "Upload Image" field.

When you have finished editing, click on the "Save" button.

2. Add Items to your Master Tool

There are three ways to add new items to your master tools. The first is to do it following the creation of a new tool. The other is to add the item through the tools table. And finally, you can add items through your item table. Let's see how you can do it.

2.1. Adding new items following the creation of a material

At the end of the process of creating a new master tool, when you click on "Save", the master tool and all its information are saved, and a new window will appear asking if you want to add items to the master tool or skip that step.

Note: If you choose to skip this step your master tool will have any items associated and you will be redirected to the tools page where your new tool will appear on the tools table.

If you choose to click "Add Items" you will be redirected to a new page where you can detail all information about your items and add them to your master tool (remember that a master tool is always a group of items). Furthermore, you can also immediately assign the item to a storage and a location so that it can be easily found within a facility.

If for some reason you need more or fewer information fields when adding a new material you can manage your item fields by clicking on the "Manage item fields" button.

You are able to change the order (by drag and drop) of the actual fields of your items form or select/deselect the ones you want to include in that form.

You can even add new customised fields by clicking on "Add Field".

After making the changes, you can close the side menu.

In the end, don't forget to save your item and all is information by clicking on the "Save" button. After this, the item is created and you will be redirected to the tools page.

Here you will be able to see all tool information with the storages of each item and the quantity.

2.2. Adding new items through the materials table

You can add items to your master tools directly through the tools table, just hover your mouse over the row of the tool you want to add items to and the options to edit the material and add items to the tool will appear.

This will open a new window for creating the new item and specifying all its details. This window works in the same way as when you add items immediately after creating a master tool, as explained above.

3. Delete Items from you Master Tool

You can delete all items within a master tool. To do that just click on the three dots icon on the top right corner of the items table and then select "Delete all items"

If you only want to delete one of the items, you can go to the line of the item and click on the three dots icon and then click "Delete". This way it will only delete that specific item.
